ABOUT US

Cotton and Company are a family-run business established in 2013, with an artisan approach to creating timeless designs of exceptional quality. The kitchen table plays a huge part in all stages of creating a new design, from drawing, cutting, stitching and sampling some of our signature collections. The gentle hum of the sewing machine is ever present, as is the sense of excitement and fun.

The uniqueness of East Lothian allows us to draw inspiration from stunning Scottish countryside, wild and drastic coastlines and the energetic vibrancy of city-life in Edinburgh. All within a stones throw of our front door.

Harnessing and championing the skills of local crafts people, allows us not only to showcase their incredible skills, but to create unique products with the utmost care and attention. Over time these working relationships inevitably turn into great friendships and they become part of the Cotton and Company family.

We believe it is this entire process that defines us and allows us to offer exceptional products from our family to yours.

MEET THE TEAM

We are a mother (Tracy), daughter (Sophie) and son (Jack) team with a variety of talents, but a shared love of interiors and timeless British design. Choosing our company name reflects our family roots – “Cotton” being both a maiden name for Tracy and a middle name for Jack and Sophie.  We feel our products reflect our belief that home is truly where the heart is.

Sophie is responsible for creating the artwork featured on each of our products. All delicately hand-drawn in pencil as an original sketch and transferred into a variety of mediums. Although Sophie has no formal background in art and design, she forged a career as an independent artist before turning her talents to Cotton and Company. With her artistic eye and meticulous attention to detail Sophie’s designs have helped establish Cotton and Company as a luxury British brand offering truly unique products. Sophie’s biggest inspiration for her designs comes from her two children, Henry (4) and Freddie (2). Our Little Cottons range is a reflection of her love of becoming a mother and her passion towards raising the boys.

Tracy’s role, although primarily being a mummy and grandmother, is the creation of new products, patterns and providing a wealth of experience in many areas of the business. Tracy previously worked as a PA to the CEO of a FTSE 100 Company in London, before taking early retirement to focus her efforts on Cotton and Company. Her ethos of always being the first to offer help and looking for the positives in life. has become an integral part of who we are. Her, and now our, mantra is “its not that you can not do something, it is just that you are yet to find out how to do it”. Tracy has taught us never to be afraid to try new things and, above all, find a goal and focus on it. Reaching it will never be by the route you imagine, so embrace experience and friendship along the way.

Jack brings his talents as an entrepreneur and his knowledge of corporate finance to the fore, helping us to continually and sustainably grow the business. Having previously worked for an international recycling company, Jack has been crucial in helping us find more environmentally friendly packaging and to create ways to re-purpose our waste fabric. His eye for quality and love of luxury products is the inspiration behind our bespoke offering. Being able to offer something special and unforgettable, allowing us to stand out from the crowd.
