Sophie Cotton is a brand built on a passion for luxury bespoke design. By combining the most luxurious of British-made materials with a tailor-made approach to design we are renowned for creating truly bespoke and one-of-a-kind products.

The offering is collectively homewares, wallpapers and commissioned artwork with each piece designed from scratch and entirely bespoke to each clients’ brief. This bespoke offering sits along side a range of limited edition art prints, stationary and original artwork.

Our keen eye for quality helps ensure that each and every product is produced to the highest standard with no expense spared in sourcing the most luxurious of materials. Our manufacturing partners have been hand-picked for their use of traditional methods, meaning most of pieces are crafted by hand to obtain the highest level of quality. We are proud to be supporting the British manufacturing industry.

Established in 2012, artist Sophie Cotton O’Meara felt there was a shortage in the offering of bespoke luxury homewares and interiors inspired by, and created using, fine art designs. By combining her skills in creating mesmerisingly detailed fine art drawings and her passion for decadent one-of-a-kind interiors, Sophie set about creating the Sophie Cotton brand.

“I have always had such a huge love of personalised homewares and interiors but the offerings on the market often felt gimmicky or lacked fine detail and quality so I decided to create my own ” – Sophie

As a truly self-taught artist in the young and emerging design world, Sophie Cotton O’Meara, founder and owner of Sophie Cotton Ltd, started the business at the age of 21 during her final year of university. Studying at The Royal Agricultural University (formally College), Cirencester, and later graduating with a degree in BSc Hons Rural Land Management, Sophie discovered her talent for fine art.

“During my time at The Royal Agricultural College there was a real sense of encouragement towards following your passion in life and a huge level of support for those wishing to pursue a more entrepreneurial career path. It just so happened that my passion wasn’t as directly related to agriculture or rural pursuits” – Sophie

Initially it was hard work trying to make a noise in the art and design world without a relevant art degree or  formal artistic training but Sophie persevered. The biggest motivating factor being to show her critics that artistic talent is not taught through lectures and classes, it can also be a deep rooted, natural ability that, given the right encouragement, can grow and improve through your own merit. A large body of Sophie’s early work consisted of bespoke commissioned artwork, including portraits of animals, humans and stately homes, and her portfolio quickly grew to include many impressive clients.

Sophie’s incredibly detailed drawings became the foundation of the Sophie Cotton brand and as the number of products and collections have increased over the years, it is easy to see that an appreciation for fine art still sits at the core of everything we design.

Sophie, although often found working away in her Edinburgh studio or travelling to meet clients, continues to remain involved in every part of the design and production process.

“I am so hugely thankful to my family and friends for their overwhelming support and encouragement over the past few years. There is not a day that goes by where I do not remind myself of how lucky I am to be able to do what I love as a career” – Sophie
